Does your parrot like to hop in the car and go on a road trip? If so, you probably already have a travel bird cage. But, even for the homebody type of parrot, you’ll want to have a carrier bird cage to take them to their Avian Vet, or out of the home in case of a fire or other emergency. There are many different carriers available to suit any parrot in your home, and here I’m going to point out two great options.
For the small parrots in your home, from finches to budgies to lovebirds, the Kahua Kabin Dometop cage is perfect for you. With 1/2 inch bar spacing and a size of 18 wide by 14 inches deep by 22 inches 
high, this cage will buckle easily into your car and sit on any table where ever you may be traveling. Since this is a standard bird cage, it has two feeder doors and the bonus of a sliding access door, or a full-size main access door. Having a full size door on a small travel bird cage can be important during an emergency situation where time is of the essence; it is also infinitely easier to remove a bird at the vet’s office with a full-size door, rather than through a small one. This bird cage is large enough that you can add a nice perch and a toy or two to make your parrot feel more at home. A carrying handle on top completes this little bird cage as a great traveling option!
For our larger parrots, there is the simply named Bird Travel Cage! This carrier is available in two sizes to suit the whole family. Both sizes 
come with two feeder cups but you must reach into the cage to place and remove them. There’s a removable tray to make cleaning up on the road easy. The smaller size has 5/8 inch bar spacing and is 19 inches wide by 12 inches deep by 16 inches high inside. This cage is great for cockatiels to Quaker parrots! The larger size has 1-1/8 inch bar spacing and is 24 inches wide by 16.5 inches deep by 20.5 inches high inside. This size is perfect for African Greys, Amazons, and similarly sized birds up to cockatoos. I would not recommend this bird cage for large macaws – their tails simply wouldn’t fit!
For your roadster macaws, I’d suggest purchasing a large hard plastic dog carrier, making sure to measure accurately as to accommodate your bird’s tail. A hardwood perch could be attached relatively easily by drilling a hole in both sides of the carrier, and attaching the perch with washers and wingnuts.
