Are your birds ready to welcome a new season with a brand new living arrangement? Let’s all MARCH into springtime and talk about cages! Shopping for a new bird cage doesn’t have to be a nightmare. In fact, it can be fun with the right retailer. Bird Cages 4 Less invites you to grab your morning mug, and cozy up with your companion parrot to read our March Cage Series. Throughout the month of March, join us to explore the many options we have to offer for your special feathered friend.

Is your parrot looking for the perfect vantage point at which to view his kingdom? I’m sure he is – all birds are! That may be difficult with a rectangular bird cage. But, what if you could back it into a corner, perfectly angled to see the entire room, and still be able to access all the food dishes, and easily clean the bottom tray and grate? There is a solution and it is just as simple as it seems – the corner style cage.

Corner bird cages are a great choice for any family who wants to maximize space for their parrots. With the bird cage tucked neatly into the corner, you have more space for a play gym or other accessories to keep your feathered friend fit, happy, and healthy. A cage which blends seamlessly into your living area is always highly valued for any parrot who thinks he is a human, and for any human who sees their parrot as nothing less! Include even your shy bird in the flow of the room without making them the center of attention.

You also have the unique advantage of being able to keep your parrot away from drafts. Did you know that having too much airflow can create an unfavorable cage environment for your birds? A little breeze is nothing to fear – birds do survive in the wild, after all – but a true draft is one which causes two separate temperature extremes in the cage, which results in your bird being uncomfortable no matter where he decides to perch. By choosing a corner cage in a typically drafty home, you safely tuck our bird into an area which has walls on two sides making a draft much less likely!

So, which kinds of birds can benefit from the style of a corner cage? Any kind! We at Bird Cages 4 Less have a few styles of cage to suit small, medium, and large parrots in your home. While you’re looking at the examples below, keep in mind that corner bird cage dimensions are a little strange compared to rectangular styles. Because the back half of the bird cage is angled, approximating how much room your parrot will have for toys, perches, and tail feathers, is a little more difficult. When in doubt – always go larger!

Let’s start of with our smaller feathered friends. For birds that do well in 5/8 inch bar spacing, take a look at the Honolulu Hideaway cage. At 36 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 43 inches high inside, this corner bird cage is suitable for birds with short or long tails – and it has a playtop! There are two feeder doors on the front of the cage for easy access, a slide-out droppings tray, and easy-rolling casters. The playtop includes the perch, two food cups, and its own slide-out droppings tray, making this bird cage a dream for you and your parrot! For a smaller parrot using this cage, such as a cockatiel or Senegal, you may want to add bolt-on perches near the food and water dishes to make navigating the cage easier. A perfect sleeping spot can arranged at the back of the cage with the perfect amount of space for your conure to tuck his tail! And don’t forget about toys; this cage has plenty of room to keep your bird busy all day long.

Do you have a particularly perky parrot who loves to climb, bounce, and be extra silly inside their cage? Consider using a bungee perch toy in the center of the cage, attached to the bottom grate and the ceiling, and using bolt-on wood perches throughout the bird cage to promote exercise, and keep your birdie burning off his extra energy!

Another corner bird cage, the Kapoho Kave II cage, comes in two sizes. Both models feature four feeder doors, slide-out grate and tray, bird-proof locks, and easy-rolling casters. All four feeder doors are located on the front of the bird cage, too, so it’ll be easy to change food and water.

The smaller version has 5/8 inch bar spacing and is 42 inches by 30 inches 58 inches inside. Because of the small bar spacing, this bird cage is suitable for nearly any small, medium, or medium-large parrot in your household! The large area also provides the perfect hideaway for a multi-parrot family to reside together with plenty of room for flapping, playing, and perching. If you choose this bird cage for your group of cockatiels, be sure to have plenty of perches to make navigating the large air space a breeze. For acrobatic parrots, try adding a swing to encourage exercise and burn off extra energy!

The larger model of this big cage has 1 inch bar spacing, and is 50 inches wide by 36 inches deep by 62 inches high inside. This cage is gigantic – and it will still slide snugly into a corner! Again, the bar spacing makes this cage a safe option for a range of parrots – medium-large up to extra-large! A pair of African Greys or Eclectus parrots would find this cage an absolute sanctuary when dotted with plenty of toys and perches. A single macaw will find that his tail stays beautifully intact as he navigates this bird cage, and your cockatoo will have no qualms, either. You’ll be able to completely customize this cage to suit any parrot in your home.

So, how about those corner bird cages? This unique option is too often overlooked and under-appreciated by bird owners; But, it’s value comes in its ability to take up less wall and floor space, but still provide a large living area within for your feathered family.
